Café Assistant – 20 hours per week

Odyssey Café is a New Lynn-based social enterprise that aims to serve our local community with great food and coffee, while providing a work experience and training programme for people experiencing challenges to employment.  We’re looking for someone special to join our small and passionate team and help us develop and grow our café and catering business.

Odyssey is committed to reducing the harm to individuals, family/whanau and society caused by the long term effects of addiction.  We deliver residential and community services to support people living with drug and alcohol challenges.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in both the kitchen and front of house. You will assist in cooking and baking delicious and wholesome cabinet food and maintaining safe kitchen procedures. Out the front, serving customers – making coffee, preparing food, and assisting our trainees.

This is a part time position offering 20 hours per week with a strong preference for most of these hours to be worked on a Wednesday and Thursday.  You must be eager to learn, with a passion for food and great service. We are looking for a positive and friendly attitude, openness to hard work and someone keen to work for an organisation with a strong social mission. This role is varied, challenging and offers a lot of potential for someone wanting to succeed in all aspects of a café environment.
